Fall 2023 POWER Library Training
Fall training will be in-person only.
For October 11 in Greensburg, we have a new location and additional spaces! If you would like to register for this session, please select the Register Now link found on this page, and select Greensburg.

General Schedule
Registration and a provided continental breakfast will begin at 8:15am. The sessions will begin promptly at 9:00 am and end no later than 3:15 pm, with a break from 11:45am-1:00pm for lunch on your own. We will email a reminder and directions to you one week before the scheduled session.
Act 48 and Continuing Education Information
Attendees may be eligible to receive Act 48 credit hours or CE credits for attending a session. Act 48 credit request forms and CE certificates will be handed out at the end of each training session that is Act 48/CE eligible.
Handouts
Due to cost, please note that extra handouts will not be printed and made available at the training location. If you desire printed copies, please download the handouts and print them in advance.
Bring a Laptop, iPad, or other Internet Enabled Device
Please bring your own internet-enabled device to the training in order to fully participate. Wi-fi will be available at all locations and power outlets for recharging devices will be available during breaks.

Beginning with a review of the what, where, why and how on all things POWER Library related and ending with when and how to contact Support – with lots of exciting news in between – it is sure to be a POWERful start to the day!

People, Places, and Things for 100
Learn about how POWER Library can “up” your genealogy and history game! We’ll be exploring the PA Photos and Documents repository and the My Heritage database to discover amazing primary source materials related to the people, places, and things of our history.
- Learn how PaPD can be an incredible asset to any genealogist or local history scholar.
- Explore the different types of historical and genealogical resources available through My Heritage.
- See how both e-resources can be used for both casual research and primary source discovery.
Supporting Young Learners: POWER Library E-Resources for PreK through Middle School
Discover the newest resources available for your students and younger patrons. From familiar favorites, such as BookFLIX and Gale Elementary, to new kids on the block, Cricket Media and Britannica School Elementary, we will explore how and when to use these resources.

Session participants will have the opportunity to select any POWER Library database of their choice, view a quick live tutorial, and then take the wheel for some hands-on time.
