Help with Chat

There are three ways to chat with us—through live chat, email, or texting!

If you are interested in live chat help, you can try the chat widget, which is a chat box that displays within the browser window. It’s easy to use and a link to it is right on the www.powerlibrary.org/chat page–just click on Chat to get started! Enter in your question and a librarian will be along soon to help you.

If you need help on the go, you can try the texting option.  It’s also easy to use—just click on the Texting icon on the Chat page to see the number.  Type up your question in a new text message on your mobile device and send it to the number on the screen—then a chat operator will get back to you with an answer as soon as they can.  (Please note, texting charge may apply depending on your mobile service plan.)

And lastly, if you need help but don’t need it immediately, you can try the email option.  From the Chat page, click the Email icon to go to the widget where you can type up and send in your question.  One of our librarians will then take it from there and get back to you as soon as they can.

With Chat with a Librarian, you can get help when you need it, where you need it, how you need it!

For a transcript of your Chat session, be sure that you are able to receive e-mail from both chat@hslc.org and ask@springshare.com.

This may require you to manually whitelist/allow both e-mails and/or instruct your local I.T. staff to add both e-mails as allowable e-mails.

Also note that while providing an e-mail is never required:

  1. If you enter an e-mail address when you logon to use Chat with a Librarian you will be given the option to have a transcript of your chat session sent to your email once the session is completed.
  2. If you do not enter an e-mail when you logon you will be provided an opportunity at the end of the session to enter your e-mail and receive a copy of your transcript. This option allows you to remain anonymous.
  3. Note also that the librarian chatting with you might ask you for your e-mail during the session if they feel that they will need to provide you with more information later. If you elect to provide your e-mail the librarian will be able to send you more information later, after the chat session is completed.
