The Johnstown Art League was founded on February 22, 1884, in the Cambria Iron Company library at the corner of Washington and Walnut Streets in Johnstown. Started at a time when formal education for women was not common, members of the Art League studied a variety of topics in the liberal arts. The Johnstown Art League is the longest continually operating women’s study group in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
